TIPS for a successful middle school student
1. Be sure to check their grades at least weekly utilizing JMC. You can access this from the Prescott Homepage also, just click on middle school and it will be called online grading.. Often times, teacher will make suggestions for when and how to improve their homework assignments and/or assessments. Those will be placed write next to the grades for the particular class.
2. ALL teachers at the middle school have a blog. On this page is information about the class, along with updated assignments. Access it by going to the homepage of the district website, click on schools, then middle school, lastly, click on the teacher.
Tips for studying for tests/quizzes:
- write vocab terms on one side of a note card and the definition on the other
-make sure to study and/or memorize your notes, not just 'look' them over
- if you are given an essay ahead of time, write the response and study it prior to the test
- utilize Cardinal time, and use that solely for test studying (if need be)
- when the teacher discusses what will be on the test, make sure to write this down, so you can refer back
- if you are given a study packet, you can be pretty well assured these items will be on the test
- study in a quite location/same location every time
- depending on the size/length of the test, 10 minutes isn't enough time to be fully prepared
